15 Overlooked Items to Pack for Your Next Caribbean Cruise
Cruise travel has made an impressive comeback this year! The influx of bookings from my clients for various cruise vacations has been remarkable.
I like to travel comfortably, and to ensure that your cruise experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible, I've compiled a list of 15 items you might not consider packing for your next voyage below. I compiled this list thinking of the convenience and comfort of my clients while sailing. Each product that has a link passes through my affiliate link(s) for Amazon. All of the suggestions are economical and easy to travel with! So take a look below—let me know in the comments if there is something essential that you pack that I need to know about!
Magnetic Night Lights: These offer a convenient solution for those midnight bathroom trips. Easily attachable to walls, they provide a gentle light that enhances your comfort without disturbing others in small cabin spaces. No more worries about waking up the whole cabin when you go for a late night bathroom break.
2. A small fan can be a game-changer in cabins where the air just doesn’t move. It not only promotes better air circulation but also significantly enhances sleep comfort.
3. Magnetic Wall Hooks: The walls on a cruise ship are typically metal, and you can use these to hang things on like wet bathing suits, your beach cover up, purses, trash bags (for storing dirty clothes). These will help you to save so much floor space in your cabin!
4. Power Strip: Not all ships provide outlets beside each bed; some may have just one outlet in the entire cabin. Bringing a power strip with extra outlets and USB ports can greatly simplify charging your devices.
5. Multi-port Charging Cube: On certain ships, such as Royal Caribbean, power strips are prohibited items. To ensure compliance and safety, an alternative like the one shown below would be suitable.
6. Small Travel Safe: This offers significant peace of mind at the pool or beach. Store your valuables like cash, passports, and IDs securely inside!
7. Over-the-Door Shoe Organizer: Not just for shoes, this organizer is also great for storing small items in your cabin, helping to maximize your space.
8. Poo-Pourri: When you're in close quarters with family, loved ones, or friends, including travel-sized Poo-Pourri in your packing regimen becomes essential.
9. Car Air Fresheners: They offer a fast and simple method to ensure your cabin smells fresh throughout your stay. Simply hang them on your magnetic wall hooks!
10. Waterproof Phone Pouches: Ideal for snapping photos in the pool or by the seaside!
11. Cruise Lanyards and Luggage Tags: Always carry your cruise card with a lanyard for convenience. The retractable version allows for easy access when you need to swipe your card, such as when ordering drinks. Additionally, the luggage tags are superb and offer a simpler alternative to the folding method provided by the cruise line.
12. Towel Clips or Bands: These ensure your towel and belongings stay securely in place on your pool or beach chair.
13. Over-the-Counter Medications at Dollar Tree: Buying medication at tourist destinations such as ports, resorts, or hotels can be expensive. A cost-effective hack is to visit Dollar Tree for the essentials, including generic Tylenol (Acetaminophen), Ibuprofen, anti-itch cream, allergy relief, and band-aids.
14. Liquid Hand Soap or Soap Strips: This is so much more convenient than what is provided by the cruise line. I pack my own hand soap almost anywhere that we go—I personally like the soap strips below (as you can easily travel with them) OR I bring a pump of the Bath & Body Works soap that I like.
15. Zip Loc Bags: These can be used in so many ways while on your cruise. I put anything that could possibly spill in its own bag when I am packing. You can also use them to get food items from the buffet that are not on the room service menu to snack on for later. There are a thousand different ways that packing a small variety of them (I would suggest quart and gallon sized) can come in handy.
